PLOT
Plot can be defined as the sequence arrangement of an event in the work of literature. It is a term used to describe event that make up a story or a main part of the story. Plot is also known as the foundation of a story or settings which the story are built on. The structure of a novel depends on the organisation of the plot in the work of literature. It is meant to arrange an event in a logical way or manner
Five Element of Plot
1)Exposition or Introduction
2) Rising action or Complication
3) Climax
4)Falling Action
5) Resolution
Exposition Or Introduction
This is the beginning of the story as characters are introduced. The Conflict is Introduced as well
Rising Action or Complication
This occurs when the event of the story is built up to the conflict. Now new characters are introduced. This is the stage where excitement, tension are encountered .
Climax
This is the main point of the plot. Here, there is a turing point in the story. This is the stage where suspense is encountered and the audience will wonder what will happen next.
Falling Action
This is where the conflict in the story are beginning to resolve. The result of the action of the main character are put foward.
Resolution
This is the end the story as solution being proffer to the conflic in the story i.e the story can either end on a happy or sad note.
Importance of Plot

1) Overcoming the Monster: The protagonist set out to defeat an antagonist force (monster) that threatens the protagonist and his home land.
2) Rages to Riches: The protagonist will acquire power and wealth, Loses it and gain it back again
3) The Quest:The protagonist and his companion set out on a strange land
to achieve an important objective
4) Voyage and Return:The protagonist set out on a journey in an unknown land. He overcome the threat of the unknown land and come back with a lot of experience.
5) Comedy: This is a light hearted play that ridicule or satires flaw of the character that instigate laughter while the event ends on a happy note.
6) Tragedy: This is often regarded as the opposite of comedy because it is a drama whose atmosphere is serious and tends to ends on a sad note
7) The Rebirth: This forces an event to turn around i.e it is a stage where the protagonist turn from bad to good and vice versa.
